Set the request_terminate_timeout parameter and match the one we set in php.ini. Recently, our support engineers had to raise the value of max_execution_time in php.ini file. I changed the max_execution_time in php but it didn’t make any difference.
For The 504 Gateway Timeout Error (Php Fpm) On Nginx + Fastcgi, We Can Modify The Execution Timeout Of Php And Nginx.
For nginx as proxy for apache web server, this is what you have to try to fix the 504 gateway timeout error: Set the request_terminate_timeout parameter and match the one we set in php.ini. In apache, applications running php as a module above would have suffice.
In A Location Block For Processing Php Files, You Can Define Them As Shown:

At Times, To Fix 504 Nginx Timeout Error, We May Need To Modify The Php Settings In Php.ini File.
Also if you're using fastcgi application, increase these. If you want to change max execution time limit for php scripts from 30 seconds (default) to 300 seconds. Basically the nginx proxy_read_timeout directive changes the proxy timeout, the fcgidiotimeout is for scripts that are quiet too long, and fcgidbusytimeout is for scripts that take too long to execute.
